The most important event in Lyon

The Alliance Française de Lyon is once again part of the festival and propose the animation " "Fêtes" vos graff sur l'AF"... A show made of videos and sounds (co-realised with af lyon students and teachers), an artistic, modern and interactive project. The show will light on AF Lyon from Bahadourian square and a dj will play electro music each night.

The 11th Biennale de Lyon will comprise around 60 artists in the 150.000 square feet across four venues: La Sucrière, the Fondation Bullukian, the Musée d’Art Contemporain de Lyon, and the T.A.S.E factory. Le thème de la biennale cette année est "Une terrible beauté est née". the title is more a methodological tool than a theme per se. It enables the project to explore the force of paradox and contradiction, tension and ambivalence, and to address the state of urgency in the world and in the arts today. Articulated through a series of parcours or narratives, the exhibition intends to address the density of the present as well as the power of the imaginary, the visionary and the hallucinatory.

Resonance program :

From September to December 2011, more than 90 art centres, private galleries, cultural institutions (including the Alliance Française of Lyon) and artist collectives will team up with the Biennale de Lyon. Every other year since 2003, Résonance has proposed an wide-reaching art trail – an event within the event that gives the widest possible public access, across Greater Lyon and the Rhône-Alpes region, to over 125 attractions – dance, performance, theatre, photography, video, installations, design, music, literature, and more. The high points in the programme are the Biennale’s opening week (10-17 September), featuring a host of openings, exhibitions, concerts, screenings and events; and the Nuit Résonance, an all-night event held in central Lyon on 24 November.
