Follow up the steps below for online registration:

• First create an account
• Once you have registered, you will have to do an evaluation test (this excludes total beginners) 
• Depending on your level, the test might take 5 to 60 minutes. The more advanced you are, the longer it will take. After this, you will be required to write some paragraphs in order to test your level of writing skills.
• Once you have finished the test, you will have a choice of different courses for your level.
• Before payment, you could choose to register for our accommodation service.
• A registration fee (50 €) will be charged only at first registration.
• Payment by transfer or Credit card
• The online test will allow us to determine your french level so that you can join a class. If it is necessary we can adjust your level (to be validated by your teacher)

At any time, you will be able to check and print your "orders" in your client account.

Before arriving in France

Student who would like to study at the Alliance Française must :

• Pre-register if they are subject to a residence visa
• Pay a once-off registration fee (50 € )
• Pay a pre-registration fee (60 € per month towards the course they intend to take)
• Obtain a visa from the French Consulate in their country of residence

When arriving at the Alliance Française de Lyon

Students must pay tuition fees corresponding to the intended length of their stay, after deduction of the instalments already paid.

We require students to produce the following items upon registration at the school secretary :

• 2 passport photos
• Medical insurance (health cover) except for those that benefit from the student status (see conditions)
• Liability insurance
• Passport for non-EU nationals + photocopy
• I.D. for nationals of EU countries + photocopy

Students who register online are required to produce these items upon arrival.

Insurance is required in the interest and the safety of students. The Alliance Française de Lyon has negotiated a discount for students who wish to take out insurance on the premises of the ASFE. See below "insurance, medical coverage".

Au pair girls

For au pair girls, the French Consulate from the place of residence requires prior agreement from the Direction Départementale du Travail et de l'Emploi du Rhône (DDTEFP).

This authorization is valid for 6 months maximum, in view of the certificate for the tuition fees payment.

For registration by mail :

You will need to contact the Alliance preferably two weeks before the course starts :

• The registration form (Download registration form)
• 2 passport photos
• Administration fee : 50 €

a) You need a visa :

Pre-registration fees: 60 € / month of the course.

b) You do not need a visa :

Total amount of the course.

Upon receipt of the amount for the registration or the pre-registration, the Alliance Française de Lyon will provide you with a payment receipt and a registration or pre-registration certificate.

As soon as we have received the total amount for the course, the Alliance Française de Lyon will provide you with a payment receipt and a registration certificate. The tuition fees paid will neither be carried forward nor reimbursed. The following cases might be reconsidered: refusal of visa certified by the French Consulate, serious illness certified by a doctor. Payment is due at the beginning of every month.

In order to offer you better services and  to welcome you well, we highly recommand you to complete your registration at the Alliance Française Lyon, at least 48 hours before your course starting day only in case you already are in France.
